Leading competitor platforms
In our comparison, we mainly considered platforms that have a similar focus as Flatio and are also suitable for medium- or long-term stays. In particular, we analyzed data from Booking.com, Spotahome, Homelike and Uniplaces.
Flatio couldn't use the fee we paid to find a solution, either a different house within Lisbon center or a hotel, which was not helpful. Also, they didn't tell us (we had to do the research) that the insurance covers extermination, so if on the first day, we complained about it someone had told us straight away to do the extermination and we'd receive money back, we would've solved the issue straight away and not go through the mental stress and constant state of fear of the house at night or fear of cooking in our own home. Their customer service was in continuous communication but they repeatedly said they had to speak with their manager, which was frustrating. I think that, if the house you find on Flatio doesn't have the issues we had, it's a great platform - but that's always going to be a gamble. Flatio should do a better job hand-picking their houses.

The Flatio site is pretty good overall, but there was a problem sending in my reservation request. Suddenly, my email address disappeared from the entered data and the request wasn't going through. Ultimately, it worked.

Flatio agent demonstrated total incompetence.
The FLATIO agent doesn't have required qualifications to manage the rental contracts.
The agents do not understand the terms of the execution of legal contracts, afterc the contract was executed.
I signed the contract and paid in full for the rental as requested, than the FLATIO agents made claims that I have not paid in full.
Once the contract is executed for the terms presented in the contract, such contract became binding contract.
Legaly the contract in compliance with contract law can not be altered unless there are major changes to the contract.
I have not extended my stay, while FLATIO wanted me to pay more for contracted rental.
That is an undisputed violation of contract law.

Initially we were hoping to have a wonderful experience with Flat.io and tell our friends about it. We still will do so but now with caution. They are new and still have some kinks to iron out. I think they should follow other platforms with experience and hold the payments until the travel is completed as this protects the customer and holds the owners/renters accountable for their actions. I bet Domingos would have replied to Flat.io investigators quickly if they were holding his funds.

Website continuously logs me out. Many times the price for the apartment changes drastically. It looked like a bug when I opened it; it said 29,000 CZK per 30 days, and after a page refresh, it said 50,000 CZK. The currency changed on its own frequently. Date selection loads endlessly. I filled in my info, but it did not save, so I had to re-enter the text again... Quite a bad website experience.
